Big Belly Burger.

Hello!

So it's been quite a while since my last post. It didn't quite work out with Aurora unfortunately which is quite sad. I've been doing bits and bobs for the last few months. I was planning on rebranding my Hive Clothing brand but when I was thinking about it I realised I just wanted to do a fifties inspired retro type thing instead. so Hive is no more too. My girlfriend Kate and I decided to join together and create a new brand called Raygun.

Raygun will be more than just t-shirts. It will have accessories, homeware and stationary too. All the designs will be somewhat retro inspired because as you can see by the design of my blog, its kinda what we're in to.

So there's not much on the site now but I thought I'd post this thing I've been working on today. If you're a fan of the flash or arrow then you'll get the reference.

Here's the 50s McDonalds ad this is based on...

Aurora Productions

I'm branching out!

Me and a few friends are joining together to form a small production company. I will continue to work on small projects under the Shoebox87 name but our little company will be focused on bigger projects and clients. I've decided to design the logo and branding for the company. Here is my initial concept.

Solita Pale Ale logo.

Not posted anything on here for a while. I did this logo today and entered it in a competition. I'm quite happy with it. I'd been looking at retro style label vectors and saw a couple tutorials. Saw this as a good opportunity to put what I'd learned into practice. Not much thought has gone into this logo. I came up with the basic design based on the retro labels I'd seen on google and then I played with the colours and fonts. I used the Italian flag colours because Solita is an abbreviation of south of little Italy. Then I used the blue because it's associated with Italy (the football and rugby teams wear blue). The baige tone is supposed to represent the pale ale. Let's see if it wins?...

New website and twitter and stuff.

So I tried to rebrand myself as.. well myself?

I made a website and twitter and stuff all under the name Andrew D. Ryan. thats me!
But after a couple weeks I decided to go back to being Shoebox87. Why fix something if it's not broken is the moral of this story.

Anywho! Here's a link to my new shoebox87 website/online portfolio.

Hive clothing ads

I made these three adverts for Hive Clothing and released them in the week coming up to the launch.

I used a combination of Final Cut Pro, after effects and mocha (for the tracking). I'm pretty proud of them.

Manchester Fashion Week

I was filming a video for manchester fashion week yesterday. Its only the second professional video I've shot with my dslr and it looks pretty good so far.

I'm so glad I shot it all on a neutral picture style. It looks a bit dull when you're filming but with colour correction and whatnot added in post it looks awesome. here's an example:

and here's a guy explaining why this is a good thing to do:
